To lose your frequent-flyer number is apparently pretty common considering the fact that American Airlines have created a special section on their website with the sole purpose of helping you find your number. Pay the previous link a visit, add your name and email and you will get your frequent-flyer number in no time.
You can also choose to sign in to your AAdvantage account at the website, and you will find all available information about your membership – including your AAdvantage number.
Another option is to take a look at previous itineraries, or to look through your email inbox to find the welcome letter you received upon becoming a member.
AAdvantage number format
When it comes to the format of your frequent-flyer number with American Airlines, the number consists of seven alphanumeric characters. For example the number can be all digits or a mix of letters and digits. Below you find two examples of how the number can look.

If you are interested in becoming a member of AAdvantage and receive a frequent-flyer number, this can be done in just a couple of minutes at the airline’s website. To create an account you need to fill up some personal information, contact information and choose a password.
When done you can start earning points on your flights which can be spent on both upcoming travels with American Airlines or one of their partnering airlines in Oneworld (and a few outside the alliance as well). American Airlines also collaborates with for example car rentals and hotels, giving you the chance to use your points to receive discounts.
